I got bored quickly and uninstalled the game completely. Well now I'm interested again but when I got to play the game there are no skin options, I can no longer choose male/female, and a lot of it's functionality is gone. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing works. I've realized though that when I first install and go to play it's normal but as soon as I update it the problems occur again. I thought I downloaded all of the software I needed to make the Mods work in my game. I have WinRAR and I used it to extract the files into the folder I created Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Package just like the instructions on the website told me to, but still, when I search for the custom content in the game itself it is no where to be found. Maybe I'm not extracting the files correctly, but I don't see what else I can do. Can anyone Please help me Properly install Mods into my game, find them in the game, and make them work? Are there any other programs I may need in order to make them work correctly? If anyone is familiar with this, please help me out. You basically install them in the same way, but they are NOT the same thing. A mod changes your game; it makes it easier/harder to do something, adds/removes a feature in the game, etc. Custom content (at least in the Sims world) includes things like different clothing, hairstyles, wallpaper patterns, etc.

If you have the latest patch or the Pets expansion pack, some custom content will not work. The nointro mod is just a quick way to test to see if the set up is working, since you can see straight away if your game skips the intro videos.

In step numbers 6 and 7 you say you extracted 'files' from the zip file - the only file that needs to go in the packages folder is the actual .package file (I know I'm really picking apart what you've said here but I'm just trying to understand why on earth it's not working for you!)

Are your mods and packages folders in the right place? They need to be made in your root folder under 'documents' (your full file location should be Documents%26gt; Electronic Arts%26gt; The Sims 3%26gt; Mods%26gt; Packages) - sometimes people make a mistake here by making their new folders in their sims folder in the program files section instead of in the documents library.

Some other things that may cause problems:

Is your game patched to version 1.12 or later? If you go on my profile, most of my questions are about the Sims 3. Recently, in the search of some information about the sims 3, I came across sites that kept referring to "Mods"? Please excuse my ignorance, but I tried to acquire information by researching, but I kept getting sites that just asked me to download crap.

So, could someone please inform me: What are "Mods"? Custom content? I don't get it. How do they work? Who creates them? Just any basic information about it that you can give me will be appreciated. Also, are they safe? Anything you know about them, inform this Sims 3 simpleton! Thanks. :DCan someone inform be about the Sims 3 Mods?
Mods are short for modifications. They alter the games features and can also introduce some but they are not made by the company that makes the game but by the users. So they are sort of unnoficial. There are many different mods for almost all computer games and for the sims there are mods that can make teens have woohoo or that can take the blur off of the sims when they are taking a shower. There are some dangers of using mods. If you use mods that are made improperly your game will not load or it will get corrupt. I am using some mods and they are from trusted websites and are safe to use.
mopar

batman
the sims 3 modshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041178141034075084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550958174692993370.post-64183709089519326382012-03-09T04:54:00.002-08:002012-03-09T04:54:15.906-08:00After installing mods, Sims 3 town, buildings flashing red?I am currently playing sims 3, i have every expansion pack except high end loft stuff, and recently installed a few mods... i went to play the game, exicted with the mods that i just downloaded and installed, but everything in the town (bridgeport) is flashing red, this is really annoying..i tried removing all of the mods, and still its red. Does anybody have a solution? After installing mods, Sims 3 town, buildings flashing red?
if you've exhausted all possible solutions then you need to run a good detailed virus checker, failing that you'll have to do the shitty process of uninstalling the game and reinstallingthe sims 3 modshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041178141034075084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550958174692993370.post-28359153794439033592012-03-09T04:54:00.001-08:002012-03-09T04:54:09.428-08:00What happened to my sims 3 mods?!?!!?i just went into my documents%26gt;electronic arts%26gt;sims 3...which is where my mods folder usually is but it's just not there anymore! the last time i played the sims was probably about a month or two ago and i had no problems with it whatsoever, but now i just turned it on and the mods folder was NO WHERE to be found! i even looked into all the folders that are there, and nothing. i had a good 20 or so mods installed that i liked VERY much and i don't know how to find them again! i thought about just redoing it all together, but when i was looking through everything, i realized how hard it would be to replace all of my mods that i had, i can't even remember what all of them were called! I did play the game, just to see if they were still there and not showing up, but there not there anymore! all of the options i previously had with my mods (like master controller, etc.) aren't available anymore! GAHH! D:

i was just wondering if this is something that ever happens, why it happens so i can prevent it, and how i can recover those missing files. i'm not very tech-savvy, but i can figure stuff out pretty easily if it's broken down into steps. so if you could please help with this that'd be great!

just so you know, i didn't delete them myself (obviously); i'm on the same account i was on before when it was working (about 1 and a half months ago...?); i searched within my documents to see if it might have gotten moved but it wasn't there; i haven't really done any "cleaning" of my pc lately, and if i did a full cleaning i would have spotted it and not deleted it; i'm the only one who uses this computer so no one else deleted it; i have a pc with windows vista.

also, it would really help if you know what you're talking about if you could turn on your IM or email option on yahoo answers so i could message you or IM you with any questions! thank you in advance! What happened to my sims 3 mods?!?!!?
Ok the first thing you can do is a search for the folder, if your sure you didn't delete then it might be somewhere else in your game folder. Go to start, search, all files and folders. Type mods in the search bar and click local drive c. If its on your hard drive this should find it.the sims 3 modshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041178141034075084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550958174692993370.post-47307442269864658322012-03-09T04:54:00.000-08:002012-03-09T04:54:02.485-08:00SIMS 3; Mods and custom content help?I've posted two questions about this and they helped so much! But the only thing is I don't think i'm putting the recource thingy in the right folders and things. I went on youtube and searched for help but nothing made sense. I have a toshiba laptop on windows xp and all the tutorials I was watching were MAC and stuff, So it's all different settings. Can someone comment a GOOD link for a video that would make sense with the whole process? I'm not 100% sure WHERE to put the mods and packages folder. Could someone comment a link thing like * Documents/ EA games/ sims 3/ downloads * or something like that so i know EXACTLY where to put it? And also, AFTER that will it automacticly go into my game?? I'm a little bit frustrated.SIMS 3; Mods and custom content help?
Alright, I think you're confused because me and Looky told you to put the mods and packages folders in different places when we answered your last question. so here's what you're going to do:

Way 1: Go to your game folder and create a new folder. name it "Mods". go into that folder, create a new folder and name it "Packages". put your custom content file in the Packages folder. after doing that, put the "Resource.cfg" file in the game folder, too. I've already given you the link to the "Resource.cfg" file in your last question.

Note: After following the instructions mentioned in Way 1, you'll find the custom contents you want installed in the game. for example, the custom content was female hair, go to the "Create a Sim" section of the game and you'll find the hair you want there. so Yes, it will go automatically into your game after that.

If you couldn't find the custom contents installed in your game after following Way 1 then follow Way 2. although I'm sure you will find the custom contents as this works for me.

Way 2: go to My Documents %26gt; Electronic Arts %26gt; The Sims 3 %26gt; Mods %26gt; Packages and put the custom content file there. I tried it and it didn't work for me but it may work for you.

Note: The game folder is the folder where you installed your game. back when you were installing The Sims 3. If you chose automatic installation of the game, then the game folder would be here "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3". but If you chose custom installation of the game, then the game would grant you the choice of the game folder location. The "Automatic" and "Custom" installations were options while you were installing the game, can you remember them?

Note: I think you already know how to install ".Sims3pack" files. if you don't, refer to your last question. if you're still confused, e-mail me as your continuous questions make me feel that I'm an idiot who can't explain how to install a bunch of simple files.SIMS 3; Mods and custom content help?
I'll try to explain in simplest terms.

If you've already downloaded the mods, and extracted them using a program like WINRAR, then right click it. Select properties. Is the type of file a:

PACKAGE file (.package)

- OR -

Sims 3 Custom Content (.sims3pack) file?

If it is a '.package' file, then you will have to create a Mods and Packages folder. So go to:

C:\Users\[YOUR USER HERE]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

And create a "Mods" folder. Go in the "Mods" folder, then create a "Packages" folder inside the "Mods" folder. After that, place all the '.package' files inside the "Packages" folder.

If it is a '.sims3pack' file, then simply place it in the "Downloads" folder. It is already there, you do not have to create any folders. After you place them in the "Downloads" folder, go to the Sims 3 Launcher, then go to the "Download" section of the Launcher. Click "Select All" then "Install".the sims 3 modshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17041178141034075084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550958174692993370.post-3785298672875857612012-03-09T04:53:00.008-08:002012-03-09T04:53:53.700-08:00Help!
