How do I get mods and meshes to work in The Sims 3?

I used to be able to do this, but my laptop crashed and it took 6 months to get it fixed and since I couldn't play The Sims 3 and use mods I forgot how to put them in the games to make them work. I have a few that I really want in the game to make it more fun. If anyone could help that would be great! How do I get mods and meshes to work in The Sims 3?
Are the files .package files?

If they are, you need to create a folder Mods and then packages folder inside the Mods folder so it should be like this:

Windows: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

Mac: right click the sims 3.app and select show package contents. Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/P鈥?Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages

Place all the package files in there (the packages folder)

You also need to download the resource.cfg and put it here:

(Windows) C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 or

(Mac) Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/P鈥?Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3

You can download the resource.cfg here:

Hope it helped :) Thats how I did it and my mods work fineHow do I get mods and meshes to work in The Sims 3?
Get Helper Monkey off www.modthesims.info

Double click the .package files after you have unzipped them.

It puts them in the Mods Folder.

Also.

Get Monkey Bars, also off of www.modthesims.info

That installs the framework,

Aka. Gives you the resource.cfg file and the folders.

To find anything you have installed using Helper Monkey

go to this file:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\PackagesHow do I get mods and meshes to work in The Sims 3?
There's a think that helps you put the files in the right place, the title is monkey something.
