How do you get mods to work in the sims 3?

I installed the monkey helper, I save the files to my desktop, I extract them, but when I click on the file of the mod that I want to use in my game, it says: access to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\.... is denied



So I'm stuck, I really want to use mods in my game!
