How do you know if the sims 3 mod you loaded worked?

Okay i downloaded some mods from simbology that were for the sims 3 and i cant figure out how to get them to work. I followed the instructions that i was given. Is there something i have to do to enable them like in the sims 2?How do you know if the sims 3 mod you loaded worked?
When you download mods from a site, you want to put them into your Sims 3/Mods/Package folder. If you have installed the Installer Monkey, all you need to do is right click on the file after unzipping it then put it into the Hacks folder. If you think your mods aren't working, try going to Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/ and delete the script cache folder there. Then try running the game. From Simbology the mods there should work as long as they are in your Sims 3/Mods/Packages folder.
