Is it safe for my game to install Sims 3 Mods?

I want to add a mod from the modthesims but I'm afraid that it would harm my game. Does it cause glitches? I'm also not sure how to put it in my game. I know I have to somehow 'extract' the files. Step-by-step instructions would be really helpful. To extract the files do I have to download WinRar or whatever its called? I just don't understand any of it. I'm very afraid that it will cause me to have to uninstall my game. Help would be very appreciated!!Is it safe for my game to install Sims 3 Mods?

It depends on which specific mod you're talking about, but most of them are safe/glitch free. Especially if you download them from the renown Sims modding sites such as modthesims.info or TSR (thesimsresource.com). You should also verify that each mod is compatible with your current game patch.

How to use mods (package files)



Create a mods folder in My documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\

Create a packages folder in the mods folder

Download resource.cfg:

Unzip resource.cfg and place into the mods folder

copy all of your package files into "packages"

Run the game



You don't need to worry about opening the package files. The game will load them automatically when it starts.

Modthesims? Oh I use that site for my sims all the time. If you have to many mods it may cause your houses not to load (by many, I mean like ALOT) but other then that it shouldn't cause a lot of glitches. Just to be sure, always read the comments that are usually posted on the mod.

Oh you want to know how to extract it?

Get winrar, open the file compressed folder, take the file and drag it into: My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads. If there is not a download folder, make one. Also my suggestion is to organize the files. It makes it easier when deleting files. And by organizing, I mean by making mini folders in the download folder. Modthesims is good too, and more choice, still i only go on him for my Gothic/Vampyre item and my hack or tuning mod.
